Faraa Maai is a non-governmental, not-for-profit media platform founded and led by Palestinian women. Since its inception in 2019, the organization has remained committed to producing high-quality textual and audiovisual content that reflects and amplifies the voices of Palestinian and Arab communities. Rooted in a feminist, independent, and rights-based ethos, Faraa Maai seeks to foster inclusive, critical, and pluralistic public discourse across local and global arenas.
This Code of Ethics outlines the foundational principles, values, and standards of behavior that govern all those affiliated with Faraa Maai. It draws inspiration from the World Association of Non-Governmental Organizations’ Code of Ethics (2005) and reflects our firm commitment to transparency, accountability, equity, and integrity.

Non-compliance with these guidelines may result in the suspension or termination of the relevant relationship.

1. Independence
Faraa Maai maintains complete independence from political parties, governments, corporations, and commercial interests. Our editorial and organizational integrity is centered on serving the public interest, supporting free expression, and enabling professional, independent journalism.
2. Human Rights Commitment
We adhere to international human rights standards and apply a Human Rights-Based Approach (HRBA) in all areas of work. This includes upholding gender equality, promoting inclusive access to media, and advancing accountability and social justice.
3. Cultural Sensitivity
We respect the diverse cultural, religious, and traditional values of the communities we serve, ensuring our content is contextually grounded and socially responsible.
4. Ethical Journalism
Faraa Maai stands against any form of media that incites hate or reinforces discrimination. We promote fact-based, balanced, and responsible journalism that upholds human dignity and fosters understanding.

Accountability & Transparency
We are accountable to our audiences, donors, and communities. All public communications shall be accurate, timely, and balanced.
Governance, financial information, partnerships, and major activities will be transparently communicated and available to stakeholders.
Personal information shall be handled with strict confidentiality, especially when disclosure poses potential risks to individuals or communities.
Anti-Corruption & Conflicts of Interest
Faraa Maai enforces a zero-tolerance policy toward corruption, bribery, fraud, or misuse of funds.
All affiliates are expected to act with integrity and transparency. Any discovered violations shall prompt immediate corrective action.
Conflicts of interest, including institutional or personal affiliations that compromise objectivity, must be disclosed and appropriately managed.

Discrimination based on ethnicity, religion, gender, race, marital or parental status, nationality, or any other identity marker is strictly prohibited.
Sexual Harassment & Exploitation
We have a zero-tolerance policy for sexual harassment, exploitation, or abuse in any form.
Clear and confidential reporting procedures, in line with our Gender Policy, are in place.
Any staff or partner found to violate this policy will be subject to disciplinary action, including termination or legal recourse.

Caregivers are entitled to maternity and parental leave as per local labor laws and internal policies.
